Community

It can be lonely at the top.

Chairs tell us time and again that chairing is a role which can be isolating and lonely.

Joining the Association of Chairs means becoming part of a supportive, collaborative community of chairs, vice-chairs, co-chairs, former chairs and aspiring chairs.

Together, we can share, support, learn and develop.

Chairing can be a heavy responsibility. Don’t shoulder it alone.

Our WhatsApp group

We have a lively WhatsApp group of over 250 chairs and growing! This is a member-only community, a safe space to share questions and get rapid, useful answers.

As this is a member-only group, you’ll need to log in to the members’ area to find out more about how to join.

Events and chances to meet and share

We’ve got a busy programme of events, webinars, and networking groups where members and non-members can come together to learn about specific topics or have more informal discussions.

  • Our online peer sessions are a regular chance to connect with other chairs, co-chairs and vice-chairs, share your experiences and learn from those who may be facing similar challenges and opportunities to you. These are free to attend.
  • We have networking and welcome events for new members.
  • There are regular informal webinars where chairs, co-chairs and vice-chairs come together to discuss a variety of topics.

Peer support and mentoring for London chairs

Thanks to funding from London funder City Bridge Foundation, the Association of Chairs is able to provide extra support for London chairs and vice-chairs in the form of regular peer group sessions and a co-mentoring scheme. We intend to roll out this type of support across the UK as more funding allows. For now, if you chair a charity serving Londoners, or you are a chair or vice-chair based in London, we strongly encourage you to get involved!
